Starting over
Yes, I haven't written for over a month. There's good reason for that. I am in the process of moving and starting a new job and a new career in general. As of next week I will be living in New York City, in Queens to be exact (it's a nice neighborhood though). A lot of you who already know this next part say I'm crazy, but I think it'll work out just fine (my previous investments have paid off). I'm taking a $120,000 a year pay cut to go live in an area with a higher cost of living. Monday I start training as an English teacher for children in high school in the Bronx. Yes, you heard that right. New York School system has a program where they hire people with degrees in any subject, but NOT education and train you to become a teacher, get certified and even get a Master's degree in Education while teaching (so in 15 months I"ll have TWO Master's degrees) in inner city schools. I'll be in training for 8 weeks, then shadow teaching with another teacher for summer school and on my own by August. This is something I"ve kind of wanted to do for a while, because I've always wanted to make a difference and have new experiences and I figure now is the time to do it. I'm exicted and scared at the same time.
With that said, you will note that I took a lot of m postings down. They're still saved, but just not out there for the world to see. That's because as part of my training program, they are doing an extensive background investigation and there's all kinds of things about morals, etc. in there. I'm probably just being paranoid, but I don't need them somehow stumbling across this. Could be bad. I'll post here from time to time with NYC experiences and maybe someday I'll get the "good stuff" back up.
Oh and if anyone is looking for a place to live, I'm renting out my place here.
:)
