Cuffed and Stuffed

I've had a bad day.....I got arrested this morning. There, I said it. I've mentioned before how the car just does me no good up here...well...it got me into some more trouble early this morning at almost 5 a.m.. I was coming back from a get together at a friends and was speeding over the Tribeca bridge, and got pulled over...well no, let's put it this way I saw the cop as I flew by and realized he was about to pull out (he was sitting right after where you get off) and I decided to, um, let's say I decided to see if I could "hide" I just pulled off the first exit and started darting up and down side streets. I didn't speed off the exit, I used turn signals...i just wanted to see if maybe he'd lose site of me, because at this point he had not put his lights on me and he wasn't even in my rearview. Lo and behold in seconds the cop was behind me, lights flashing. So, I wasn't going ot outrun him so I just pulled over. He jumped out of the car and all of a sudden three more cop cars appear and block me. He tells me to "get out of the vehicle NOW" he's screaming, he's hysterical, he's acting like he had been right behind me and I'd just put the pedal to the floor or something. So.. I got out clutching my purse and he starts screamng, "put the purse down!" and one of hte other cops screams, "put it down." So I put it on the ground. They start screaming for me to "keep the hands where we can see 'em" all kinds of shit. I'm like "what the hell?" So then one of them grabs my purse and starts riflig through it saying, "where is your driver's license?" I said, "it's in my wallet, I would've gotten it for you had you asked me." He grabs my wallet pulls it out and says, "is your registration and insurance information in the vehicle." I nod yes and he snaps, "where in the vehicle." I inform him that both are in the glove compartment. I said, "what is this about?" He said, "I think you know." I said, "I assume you're citing me for speeding, but I didn't know we had to go into all this." HE said, "not only were you speeding, but you were trying to invade an officer of the law" I said, "I was doing no such thing sir." he said he knew I had seen him when I came off the bridge. I siad, "Yes, I saw a police car there, but you didn't put your lights on or did you pull out right away, so I kept going." He said, "and what are you doing down here. Where are you headed?" I said, "why is that important?" Then he starts asking me "So what were you running from? What're we going ot find? How much have you had to drink, etc? I told him I wasn't hiding from anything, there was nothing in the car, and that I was sober as a judge and hadn't had a drink since 10 p.m the night before." So then another askes if they can have permission to search my car. I told them to go ahead, but stop treating me like I'm a criminal just for speeding. One of the other one says, "50 bucks says we find blow." I said, "excuse me?" He didn't respond. For the record, I've never done an illegal drug in all my 28 years, so when he didn't answer me I said, "excuse me? What were your referring to in terms of blow?" He said, "why? Scared?" I got really pissed off and stomped my foot. The whole thing turned into a screaming match, and needless to say they found nothing in the car. So then they start shining a flash light in my eyes and looking at my pupils and making me do things to prove I'm not drunk-touching my nose, hopping on one foot, etc, etc. I said, "Can we just cut to the chase and you give me some kind of blood or breath test, because I'm not drunk and I have no drugs in my system." He just ignored me. I asked if I could have my bag back. No answer. I asked if I ccould use my cell phone to call my dad. One of them mocked me and said, "oh, daddy they took my pierre cardin bag!" Then they all started huddlig and talking and I was just left to stand beside the car. I felt a tad chilly and so I decided to get back in the car and sit down and as I attempted to do this one of them shouts, "what do you think you're doing? Did we say you could get in the car? Where are you going?" I said, "enough of this already, just give me my speeding citation and let me be on my way!" next thing I know, two of them are on me and the one is telling me to put my hands behind my back. I was like "what the hell?" He starts telling me I'm under arrest for evading an officer on a traffic stop, etc, etc. I told him he had to be kidding me and next thing you know i'm in hte back of a police car. It was like something out of the show cops. They took me to some city station and I demanded to call an attorney. I did and she came, but the whole thing caused me to be late for work. She's working on the whole issue, but I have been officially charged with "attempting to evade police pursuit." It's a whole big mess. I have no prior criminal record (save for 2 or 3 speeding tickets in the past 12 years." Yeah, yeah, maybe I was hoping he wouldn't catch up with me when I got off the exit, but it wasn't like they had to chase me or like I was running.
I feel violated, abused, and made a fool of. All because some pig got on an ego trip when he though I was trying to outsmart him. Ridiculous. Will let you know how this all plays out.
